JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate for this position will require knowledge of FASD and have an understanding of addiction treatments. Under the supervision of the FASD Outreach Coordinator, the Mentor will be responsible for the day-to-day mentoring of FASD individuals and their families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the teaching of basic living skills.
- Provide support to parents with FASD affected children.
- Assist with the building of support around the families.
- Assisting families with community support services.
- Work closely with community agencies in identification and referral services for clients.
- Be responsible for appropriate documentation of client’s files, activities and other material needed for programs services.
- Must be willing to expand understanding of FASD through training and education.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIALIZATIONS:
- High School Diploma.
- Good communication skills
- Experience working with “high risk” population.
- Experience working with First Nation families.
- Experience doing research and data entry.
- Must have computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience providing in home support to families with special needs.
- Experience in assisting clients with developing support networks.
- Experience working as a team member.
- Diploma or Certificate in counseling or mental health.
- Understanding of addictions counseling.
- Understanding of FASD.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experiences.

The Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Service is presently accepting applications from qualified and experienced Police persons for (3) three Constable Positions, comprised of (2) two persons with previous police experience, and (1) one Tsuu T’ina Nation Band Member who meets the requirements for Police Cadet Recruit Training.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Constables will actively participate as a member of the Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Service to develop and implement strategies to prevent crime, to protect life and property, and to preserve the peace, to enforce and investigate violations of the law. The Officer will proactively and reactively resolve crime and disorder, fostering good relations between the police and residents of the Nation wherever possible through the use of the Peacemaking Process, recognizing cultural and personal sensibilities of the Tsuu T’ina Nation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sworn Constable (2) two, or (1) one Police Cadet, preference will be given to a Tsuu T’ina Nation Band Member who meets the requirements for Police Cadet Recruit Training.
- Successful completion of the required Basic Training from a recognized policing program
- Must comply with service policy and regulations
- Valid Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance through the RCMP

REPORTS TO: Office Manager, Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Service
JOB SUMMARY:
The Police Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing reception, secretarial and clerical duties for the Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Service. The role will provide support to the Office Manager as required and is designed to support and promote the Mission, Goals, Objectives, Policies and Procedures of the Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
RECEPTION:
- Receive and respond to public complaints and inquiries made in person and over the phone by collecting and generating necessary file documentation and forwarding information to the proper authorities or directing individuals to other agencies.
- Relay information among Police Service members using the police radio, e-mail, or telephone communication systems.
- Prompt and courteous response to public inquiries.
- Maintaining and courteous response to public inquiries
PIRS/PROS OPERATION:
- Operate the computerized Police Information Retrieval System (PIRS) Police Reporting Operating System (PROS) to create and modify files; obtain statistical reports and distribution of electronic mail between police services/detachment.
SECRETARIAL:
- Prepare correspondence (e.g.: letters, reports, memo’s) including Dicta Phone transcription for police service members and Chief of Police
- Prepare correspondence for Tsuu T’ina Police Commission meeting, including Dicta Phone transcription of meeting minutes.
CLERICAL:
- Maintain several filing systems for the Police Service Office
- Distribute and process incoming and outgoing mail
- Process and issue fax’s
- Maintain inventory of stationary and office supplies
- Maintain an organized for easy accessibility of information for members and staff.
CPIC OPERATION:
- Operate the computerized Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) System to enter and validate information (e.g. stolen property, warrants, missing persons etc.).
JOIN OPERATION:
- Operate the Justice On-Line Information Network to search for Court Dispositions for Tsuu T’ina Police Service case files.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Minimum of Grade 12 education plus 2 years of secretarial experience
-Mature individual must recognize the importance of confidentiality and be able to pass an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance
-Must be able to work well under pressure with minimal supervision, have a strong work ethic and have shown that they can be dependable and reliable to fulfill their duties and responsibilities effectively
-Must process exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
-Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of office and financial procedures
-Willingness to work in a team environment
- Must have own transportation
- Must be willing to obtain further training and education, as required.
COURT DUTIES:
- Attend Tsuu T’ina Provincial Court and document docket/case disposition
- Schedule trails, prepare case files for Tsuu T’ina Police Service members, and, verifying information and reports necessary for court proceedings
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- An understanding of the Tsuu T’ina Nation’s cultural, traditional and community values would be an asset.
