"The Government of Alberta recognizes and respects the treaties and the lands set aside under the treaties as First Nation reserve lands. Nothing in this document will abrogate or derogate from the treaties. Under Section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982, existing Aboriginal and treaty rights of the Aboriginal peoples of Canada are recognized and affirmed. Alberta recognizes that some activities on provincial Crown lands affect existing treaty rights and other interests of First Nations in Alberta"
